Help CenterOne of the easiest ways to manually close a VELUX solar powered skylight is to lightly tap on the rain sensor. This is a small plate located on the exterior of the skylight. Lightly tap on this sensor to close the skylight.
Resetting the skylight is another option to get a venting skylight to close.
As a final option, the skylight can be manually closed from the inside. VELUX does not recommend manually closing a solar-powered skylight. The chain can be disconnected from the inside of the skylight. For skylights manufactured 2010 - 2014, use a 2.5mm allen wrench. For skylights manufactured 2015 - present, use a 5/32 allen wrench. Note: Skylights are heavy! Caution should be used when lowering a skylight that has been disconnected from a chain. A local VELUX skylight installer should be contacted for any repairs and to reattach the chain.
