Are VELUX glass skylights safe?

All VELUX glass skylights come with laminated Standard Safety Glass. If hit hard enough, this glass does not break into pieces and fall into the space below. Instead, this glass spiderwebs and stays in the frame until the skylight is ready to be replaced.
